The Vancouver Canadians are apparently getting a boost in merchandise sales from the visit they received from Ferris Bueller's Day Off stars Matthew Broderick and Alan Ruck.
According to team brass, fans are calling looking to purchase the C's hat that Broderick was wearing last Saturday at Nat Bailey Stadium after a video of Broderick and Ruck leading the traditional Take Me Out to the Ball Game singalong in the seventh-inning stretch was picked up by various media outlets, including Entertainment Tonight, CNN and People Magazine.
Broderick, 63, and Ruck, 69, are in the Lower Mainland shooting a movie titled The Best Is Yet to Come. A producer called the C's earlier in the week, looking for tickets. C's vice-president of sales and marketing Walter Cosman approached the actors about taking the lead on the song that night.
The Best is the first time Broderick and Ruck will share the screen since they were the main characters in the 1986 classic Ferris Bueller.
The C's, who are the Toronto Blue Jays' high-A farm club, play their final home stand of the Northwest League regular season, with the Everett AquaSox providing the opposition at the Nat. The six-game set starts Tuesday and ends Sunday.
No word yet on if there are other movie reunions coming.
