Ram Navami is one of the most sacred festivals of Hindus that marks the birth of lord Rama who is considered the seventh avatar of Vishnu. This year Ram Navami will be celebrated on Thursday, March 26.
According to the traditions, Rama descended during the Treta Yuga to uphold righteousness. Ram Navami also marks the conclusion of Chaitra Navratri, with many devotees spending all nine days in prayer and fasting.
Why the Date Confusion?
The uncertainty between March 26 and 27 stems from the Navami Tithi beginning at 11:48 AM on March 26 and ending at 10:06 AM on March 27. However, Hindu festivals follow the Udaya Tithi (sunrise rule), making March 26 the correct date of observance.
Ram Navami | Puja Muhurat
The most sacred window for worship is the Ram Janm Muhurat, also known as the Madhyahna Muhurat, which will be from 11:13 AM to 1:41 PM IST. The Janm Muhurat spans approximately 2 hours and 28 minutes. It mirrors the Madhyahna or afternoon period, during which Lord Rama was believed to have been born.
