Streaming giant Prime Video has launched a brand new crime thriller that's already being hailed as essential viewing - and it's ready to stream immediately.
56 Days charts the story of Oliver and Ciara who encounter each other by chance in a supermarket before developing feelings "fast and dangerously hard". However, circumstances quickly deteriorate as, 56 days afterwards, investigators arrive to discover an unidentified corpse.
Running across eight episodes, all instalments can be watched immediately on Prime Video, ideal for viewers keen to consume the entire series in one go. 56 Days also features a stellar ensemble including Dove Cameron as Ciara Wyse, Avan Jogia as Oliver Kennedy and Karla Souza as Lee Reardon.
Prime Video reveals: "56 Days follows Oliver and Ciara, who, after meeting randomly in a supermarket, fall for each other fast, and dangerously hard. Fifty-six days later, homicide investigators arrive at Oliver's apartment to find an unidentified body-brutally murdered and intentionally decomposed.
Indeed, 56 Days is adapted from Catherine Ryan Howard's best-selling novel of the same name. It was initially published in 2021 following a couple who moved in together just before Covid-19.
A book synopsis reads: "No one even knew they were together. Now one of them is dead."
The series delivers abundant suspense and dramatic revelations as significant secrets emerge. The concluding episode, naturally, is where everything comes to light as Prime Video teases: "Karl and Lee put together some final pieces to truly understand everything about Oliver and Ciara's intense, charged and fatal love affair."
In essence, Ciara's true identity is Megan and her entire relationship with Oliver had been orchestrated after it emerged Oliver had drowned a boy named Paul before another boy, Shane, accepted responsibility before he was subsequently killed in prison. Megan and Shane were siblings with Megan assuming a fresh identity for truth and revenge.
But to whom did the body belong? It was in fact Dan, Oliver's previous therapist who met his end after he threatened to disclose the truth. Oliver and Megan subsequently disposed of the body and fled together, with the concluding scene depicting them on the beach with their child.
