It's a beach that's certainly no stranger to a famous face or two and now Longsands in Tynemouth can add popular podcast host and Celebs Go Dating star Paul C.Brunson to its list of visitors, after he was seen filming there last week. And his visit came just ahead of the new series of the show he's most famous for began.
For years now, E4 viewers have been hooked on Celebs Go Dating, as showbiz types of all ages, from the worlds of music, TV, sport and social media look for love with members of the public. It's the job of Paul and his colleagues at the Agency to play matchmaker, see them navigate their dates and offer some key advice along the way.
The latest run of the popular programme started on Monday, with the new cast including the likes of Celebrity Big Brother star David Potts, Loose Women's Coleen Nolan and rugby player and ex of Chloe Madeley, James Haskell. And as Paul also notches up plenty of views and streams for the latest episodes of his hit podcast We Need To Talk, the man himself was seen down by the sea at Longsands, being filmed for something else.
After sending in a photo to ChronicleLive, an onlooker who recognised him told us: "Paul was chatting to on camera to someone else and they were both dressed in thick black coats which given the heat seemed strange. So when people spotted the cameras - coupled with the coats - I think people initially thought it must have been a detective show."
They added: "But he seemed very chilled and they just cracked on filming - people were just bathing behind them and nobody really batted much of an eyelid. The crew was quite big, at least six or seven people around him, so hopefully it is a big show and it will show Longsands off even more."
Over the last few years, Longsands has become a popular dog walking spot for Newcastle United players Sandro Tonali and Dan Burn and last year got a visit from Newcastle raised TV and radio host Vick Hope and her superstar DJ husband Calvin Harris.
