The Krewe of Bacchus honored the upcoming 250th anniversary of the U.S. during Sunday's parade, and what better way to celebrate than to bring along Captain America himself?
Anthony Mackie, a New Orleans native who stars as Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, rode atop a chariot on the fifth float of the parade. Decked out in an America 250 letterman, Mackie threw beads as a "special guest" of the parade.
A graduate of Warren Easton High School, Mackie moved back to his home city to raise his family.
Mackie served as Bacchus king in 2016 and has ridden with them on subsequent parades.
Mackie wasn't the only celebrity with Louisiana ties spotted at the parade. According to posts on social media, Shia LaBeouf, known for his roles in "Transformers" and "Even Stevens," was in the Bacchus crowd and posed with fans.
LaBeouf is Louisiana Cajun on his father's side and has family in the area. He is also known to love a local parade and was spotted in Slidell last year at the St. Patrick's Day parade, posing with police officers and other fans.
He has been in the New Orleans area throughout the height of the Carnival season, even stopping by the Magazine Street resale shop 90's Kids Closet.
