It's St. Patrick's Day, and you know what that means...wear green or the leprechaun will get you!
St. Patrick's Day is a holiday that everyone knows. Maybe it's a little more popular amongst college aged crowds, where all day bar hopping might be in your agenda. But even if you're not in that age group or don't intend to celebrate in any "traditional" way today, you can still enjoy the holiday for what it is, and to celebrate in style like these wild animals. St. Patrick's Day is a holiday from Ireland that started as a religious holiday to honor St. Patrick, and has grown into a global phenomenon. It's now more evolved to a holiday that celebrates Irish culture, history, and heritage. St. Patrick was a missionary who lived during the 5th century, and is known for helping spread religion throughout Ireland. According to legend, he used a three-leaf closer, aka the shamrock, to explain the concept of the Holy Trinity.
We're not the only ones celebrating this exciting holiday. Animals dress up in green and pinch each other too. The ones who live deep in nature are already immersed in green, so they barely have to try. But they're on their way to parties, bars, and friend's places too. Green is worn because it's connected to Ireland itself, and is called "Emerald Isle," because of the lush green landscapes. So whether you're celebrating the holiday with a parade, all day festivities, bar hopping, singing, wearing green, scrolling animal memes, or having a good homemade meal of cabbage and corned beef, the holiday is here whether we like it or not. Enjoy!
